26000 students appear in CET 2014, Test shall continue today : Srinagar, June 08: State level Common Entrance Test (JKCET) for various medical and engineering undergraduate courses has began at different centres across J&K Saturday morning. According to officials at JKBOPEE, over 26000 candidates are appearing in the entrance test which shall make them able to get admission in different government and non-government educational institutions. “There are around 37 examination centres set up in the state,” an official said. “14000 students are appearing at 20 centres in Valley while more than 12000 candidates shall try their luck in 17 centres in Jammu region.” The entrance test shall continue today (Sunday ) as well. The 10-2 level science students are eligible for the test and are required to appear in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics papers depending upon their stream and choice. Physics and Chemistry papers were scheduled for Saturday, while Biology and Mathematics papers will be conducted today (Sunday) “The papers are being held in two shifts – morning and evening. The morning shift starts at 9.25 am and second shift at 1.25 pm,” officials said. Pertinently, the BOPEE faced huge embarrassment early this year when paper leak scandal surfaced in the board involving its former chairman Mushtaq Ahmad Peer. Peer is in jail these days. Keeping the infamous experience in mind, the officials said that, “Board has constituted special flying teams to keep a close check on entire process for holding the test.” “The state government has made separate arrangement by appointing observers in order to keep vigil,” they added. Meanwhile, the BOPEE has also declared results of various diploma courses for which it held examination last month. The result is available on its official website.
