27-11-2014 Gaza Community Mental Health Programme Held A Public Meeting about the Last War Impact on the Psychological State of Civilians Khanyounis Community Center, a branch of Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, held a public meeting in coordination with the public relations and Absan Municipality in Kan-younis. This meeting entitled “The War Impact on the Psychological state of Civilians” as part of “ School Counseling and Reactional Activities for Children after the Last Assault on the Gaza Strip- Gaza Under Fire Appeal 2014- Urgent Response to Gaza Needs”. This public meeting took place at Absan Municipality hall, with the presence of 63 mothers of the children. During this meeting, the Psychologist in Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, Mr. Osama Freana discussed the traumatic incidents that people went through, in particular, those who missed one of their relatives or properties, and the reactions of these incidents. Mr. Freana highlighted the symptoms which come with the disorders after trauma, and he pointed out to the mechanisms of dealing with such symptoms within the specialized treatment interventions. At the end of the meeting, the enquires and explanations about the symptoms were raised and the specialist answered and transferred cases that need further psychological interventions to Khan-Younis Community Center.
