27 Days of Thanks: Day 22 (Ive Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes Our local town theater The Town Theater has reopened this weekend after years of being closed down. Right in the heart of our small town, this theater has served up community experiences and fun times for years. However, as most small towns theaters know, the draw of multiple cineplexes in bigger cities, and the cost and difficulty of getting first run movies has forced the doors to close many times. Its so exciting to see the lights up and the doors opening again. We are thankful for small town businesses being revived, and thankful for more opportunities for home town experiences. The theater will be showing older movies and tonight they are showing a classic; Dirty Dancing. The music in this movie is nostalgic and fun, and you cant help but recall the song that made this classic what it is today....Ive Had The Time of My Life. Hearing about this movie being shown on the big screen brought these song lyrics to life for us, and we realized that this is really a great song about gratitude. The final scene where Patrick Swayze brings Baby up on stage....he is showing everyone his gratitude for her. And of course the dancing is amazing, and really brings to life that feeling of gratitude for someone who has brought YOU to life. We love the end of this scene, how every one in the crowd gets up to dance, it is a shared EXPERIENCE that the whole community has together. So tonight, remember the time in your life when you had experiences that you are so grateful for. Remember the people who made it possible.
