28 july 2013, adirondacks, NEW YORK, 7:00am....yesterday, saturday, one of my sisters, invited me to join the HiLIGAYNON picnic at the COLONIE TOWN PARK/MOHAWK RIVER PARK as a show of support..... i obliged..... the HILIGAYNON are indigenous peoples of the philippines occupying the island of PANAY. the provinces in the PANAY ISLAND GROUP are: CAPIZ ,ILOILO, AKLAN, NEGROS ORIENTAL AND SUR..........PANAY ISLAND now can be travelled by land thru the ROLL-ON, ROLL-OFF (roro) project of the arroyo presidency. .......FROM ILOILO, one can travel to CATICLAN, then take a small boat to BORACAY KNOWN WORLd WIDE for its white beaches.....but, nowadays, BORACAY can be anywhere in the world. the RORO project leaveS the BATANGAS NEWLY IMPROVED PORT, your vehicle can ROLL ON inside the ferry. then as THE FERRY cross the BATANGAS side of the PACIFIC OCEAN,( the green low mountains of villaverde are visible) after a whole night, DAWN FINDS YOU at a smaller port on the other side of mindoro island, continue travelling by land, ROLL OFF AT AN OPPOSITE PORT still in MINDORO ISLAND then cross another section of the PACIFIC OCEAN till the ferry ROLLS YOUR CAR off A Port in CAPIZ........TINY THATCHED ROOFED RESTaurants equipped with videokes, dot the landscape.......so, eat your fill of sea foods........ roxas city which is the capital of capiz is the SHRIMP CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES........BUT, SHRIMP IS SWEETER IN BACOLOD........GOING BACK TO MANILA, ONE CAN FLY MANY OF THE LOCAL AIRLINES......CEBU PACIFIC, ASIAN SPIRIT....already had trips then..... PAL (philippine airlines) at the time, had the highest airfare.........while there, i had a fill of deep sea crabs in iloilo called in tagalog as ALIMASAG.....FRESH FROM THE FISHERMAN......... the HILIGAYNONS in the USA-ALBANY AREA comprise a few as seen from the just a dozen picnickers yesterday.........THE ATi-ATIHAN ORIGINATED IN PANAY....SO, WHAT MAKES THE HILIGAYNONS INDIGENOUS TO PANAY.....NOT THE agta/ati.....
