28th April 1920 - the day of Soviet occupation of Azerbaijan. Some raw figures: - 40 000 executed in one year in aftermath of the military conquest (1920 - 1921); - 70 000 Azeris,18 000 Azeris of Iranian descent and 35 000 Azerbaijani Germans deported to Kazakhstan steppes in 1930 - 1941 (majority perished on their way); - 28 000 Azeris executed by NKVD in 1934 - 1937; - mass deportation of Azeris from Armenia sanctioned by Moscow (100 000 between 1948 and 1959, plus 160 000 more in 1987 - 1989); - more than 300 000 Azeris killed during WWII as a result of forced conscription and use of them as cannon fodder in a war that had nothing to do with them or their homeland; - 300 000 dead out of 700 000 conscripted - with total population bordering 3 million - almost entirely whole male population in reproductive age (what else if not a genocide).
