28th November 2014 Daily Encounter. The Word and the Storms of life ‘’When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee‘’ - Isaiah 43:2 Today’s Scripture Reading: Mark 4:35-41 Every person in this world we live in will be faced with storms in their life. A physical storm is a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and has the ability to destroy lives and property. But in our study today, we are looking at the storms of life which are unexpected events that has the ability to destabilize you, cause fear and anxiety and can even destroy. Storms of life include stagnation in your business or a crisis in your health, family or ministry. Just like we see in our scripture reading, the storms of life come unannounced and suddenly, but you must be constantly prepared for them. They come to test your faith and they can cause you to be worried and anxious just like the disciples of Jesus. Storms of life come to delay you, destroy you or distract you. Like we see in our story, the fact that Jesus is in your boat does not mean the storms will not come. When the rains descend, the flood comes and the winds blow in your life, if you are not fully grounded in the word of God you will surely succumb to the pressures of these storms. When storms of life come your way, you might not have time to run to meet your pastor. It is the knowledge of Gods word in your heart that will deliver you in that moment. Dear reader, ensure your life is strongly rooted in God’s word and that your spiritual life is robust through prayer and fasting, so that when these storms come, you will be at rest just like Jesus and you will be able to command the storms to get out of your life. Prayers: Begin to address every contrary storm in your life right now. Prophetic Blessing: I decree peace be still to every storm around your life
