29 DAYS TO SOLAR "E" (FOR ENERGY) DAY- FPL REBATE HOW TO- How do I figure out how much power I use? Energy is sized in units of “watts” or “kilowatts” (1,000 watts = 1kilowatt). You are billed in “kwh” – kilowatt hours. So for example a 60 watt light bulb uses 60watts per hour, or 60wh. If that bulb is on for 24 hours: 60 x 24 = 1,440wh – or 1.44kwh – or approximately 16cents. A Solar PV system will create kwh when the sun is shining and deposit them into your breaker panel, thereby reducing the amount of kwh you need to buy from the utility company. How many kwh you produce will depend on how many panels you have on the roof. That depends on 3 things: How much do you use How many unshaded panels you can fit on your roof How much you wish to invest. We put that in the Solar mixer & come up with your ideal system size. Remember – you do not have to get to ZERO kwh from the utility to make it worthwhile (although it kind of feels good ).
