29 July 2013 MEDIA RELEASE NATIONAL PREMIER LEAGUES VICTORIA (NPLV) Following is the letter sent to the FFV in relation to Victorian Football clubs’ position on the NPLV. Dear FFV Board and Management After numerous meetings, consultations and representations with the FFV and its representatives, the football stakeholders in Victoria have come together as a collective at a meeting convened on 23 July 2013. The clubs have resolved to issue the following statement to the FFV. "The signatory clubs below support the principles of the FFA National Competition Review (NCR) recommendations but oppose the FFV proposed model to implement them. The proposed model in Victoria is: financially unviable fails to implement the recommendations of the NCR lacking in consistency of those rolled out nationally Accordingly, the clubs below withdraw their EOIs and will not submit an application to join the NPLV. The clubs call upon the FFV to reconsider its position" Bentleigh Greens Box Hill United Dandenong Thunder Heidelberg United Northcote City Moreland Zebras Oakleigh Cannons North Geelong Warriors Pascoe Vale Langwarrin Port Melbourne Sharks Sporting Whittlesea South Melbourne Peninsula Strikers Southern Stars Collingwood City South Melbourne Womens The statement is supported by the following clubs that have publicly declined submission of an EOI and rebuked the FFV’s model of the NPLV: Green Gully Cavaliers Altona Magic Hume City St Albans Saints Melbourne Knights Western Suburbs Preston Lions Cairnlea These clubs in addition to the three clubs, associations or consortia advised directly to FFV (see below) have now withdrawn from the application process: Gippsland Soccer League (Media La Trobe Valley Express -10 June 2013) Bundoora United (Directly confirmed to Clubs and FFV) One as directly advised to FFV (per FFV Media Release Friday 26 July 2013)A further five clubs are expected to make a statement within the next week to withdraw. We call on the other clubs, associations or consortia in the EOI process to make such a statement.
