29 March 2014 – THIS IS YOUR AMERICA – “Setting the Record - TopicsExpress

29 March 2014 – THIS IS YOUR AMERICA – “Setting the Record Straight” I have been back in the States since early yesterday, and it is pretty much business as usual. I really don’t want to get used to accepting the negativity here, so I will continue to say hi to people no matter how scared they look. I miss my son terribly already. We had the time of our lives over the course of those nine days. That people noticed how happy I was visiting him in Guatemala touched me deeply. Thanks for following along. Coming back to America, I realize how much we take for granted. It’s nice to be able to drink the water again and flush toilet paper. And don’t think we have it bad with our potholes! Think about unpaved runs but for one highway! It took forever to get across Guatemala. It’s funny but the only person I missed while I was gone was my dog Lily. HA! The ex was kind enough to let her come over a day early so I’m good. For now.... I really must do something about that. When my phone died on Saturday the 22nd, things here with the blog got a little out of sorts for even me. Always the completist, I feel it necessary to go back and fix it. I will be adding some new blogs about the trip at the same time. For people who read regularly, I will try and mix it up that way. 23 March 2014 THIS IS YOUR AMERICA – “En Guatemala” I had to change hotels because La Paz forgot about another upcoming reservation. BOSQUE ENCANTADA is superior in every way – nice towels, little touches, my own bathroom, etc – but a little more dinero. I am definitely thinking in Spanglish. When I write, I want to write phrases in Espanol. On top of that, I killed my phone battery last night. There was so much wonder at the music festival in Santiago that I guess I pushed too far. It won’t take a charge, which totally sucks. I hope I don’t lose content as a result. We spent time in San Pedro. Definitely more of an indigenous feel. Dante bought foodstuff in the market – a true wonder! I guess you get used to the flies.... This morning I will go with Dante to one of the yoga classes he teaches. This one is at a hostel. He says we can grab some breakfast there. I will try to take part in this class, but my back and its impact on my overall conditioning remains prohibitive.
