2PET 3:8 But, BELOVED(elect of God), be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2PET 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning HIS PROMISE(to the elect only), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to US-WARD(NOT ALL THE WORLD), NOT WILLING THAT ANY(of the elect) should perish, but that ALL(of every nation) should come to repentance. 2PET 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2PET 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 2PET 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 2PET 3:13 Nevertheless WE(elect of God), according to HIS PROMISE(to the elect only), look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 2PET 3:14 Wherefore, BELOVED(elect of God), seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless........ Many take the verse of 2 Peter 3:9 out of context to mean God would have it that none in the world should perish. Notice BELOVED in verse 3:8 before verse 3:9 as well as in verse 3:14. We see PROMISE in verse 3:9 and 3:14 as well. Whenever you see BELOVED and PROMISE in context, we know it is speaking to the chosen of God ONLY. Christ came for His BRIDE ONLY. He does not love wickedness. Though He loved us while we were yet sinners, the PROMISE is ONLY to His sheep. He calls them by name. They follow no other. To think that the Lord would have ALL the world to come to salvation is FALSE DOCTRINE. God is Soveriegn and all things are under Him. He is angry with the wicked EVERY DAY. If God wanted to save ALL, He certainly could. The Holy Spirit in a person is Christ in them. God only loves righteousness. This is my beloved Son in whom I AM well pleased.NO OTHER. The Lord our righteousness.You cannot take a verse out of context and have truth. It MUST harmonize with the entire Holy Word. To GOD be ALL the glory.
