2Pe 1:1-5,”Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” Many people only believe God for what they are lacking or only have faith for the things they do not have or things they want, but they forget that God has already given us everything that pertains to Life and Godliness. Life meaning everything you need to live for and Godliness everything you need to partake in his divine nature and glory. We just have to meet the conditions to receive that promise. But what is the promise? Is it for something material you don’t have, need or want? No, let’s read the rest of the scripture look in verse 4. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” Do you see it? It is by these promises you can be partakers of the divine nature. What does the divine nature have to do with material possessions?
