2Pe 1:16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 2Pe 1:17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2Pe 1:18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 2Pe 1:19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 2Pe 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 2Pe 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2Pe 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2Pe 2:2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 2Pe 2:3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber..... Jesus warned us about false prophets, that false prophets would abound at the end of days before He returns. here peter also warns us of false teachers who will bring destructive heresies. a heresie is a wrong teaching, one that does not agree with Word of God. the greek uses 2 different words, logos and ramah, to describe speech. the written words are called logos, and the spoken words are called ramah..... Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. the greek here uses logos, the written Word. God is not a book, He is a living, breathing being. His Word though, is perfect, when He gives it, He does not waiver from it. that is why He is logos, when He gives us His Word, it cannot change. in a way, we can say that His Word is Lord, He is the Lord, but His Word is Lord too. we are obligated to study His written Word, keep it, and obey it. not knowing His written Word and keeping it always brings confusion, division, and destructive heresies abound. if Jesus is your Lord, then His Word is your Lord too! Joh_5:39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. the written Word, the scriptures testify about Jesus. searching the scriptures always leads us to Jesus, not someone else. a destructive heresie will get us to eventually look at the devil, not Jesus. Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. many end time teachers use the scriptures out of context to make us focus on anything but Jesus. if we get our eyes off Jesus, it is never good. usually fear, confusion, distraction and more come to harm the one who looks at the created thing, not the creator. since we live in the times of the great delusion, we need to know the written Word to be sure of all things. comparing the Word, the truth, to what is false is imperative not to get caught up in the great delusion......
