2Timothy 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity(fear)..... In order to recognize and deal with intimidation we must confront 2 issues. First, fear, or timidity, is a spirit, and second, it is not from God. The Greek word for spirit in this passage is pneuma, which is the same word used for the Spirit of a man or a demon. Intimidation is not an attitude or disposition. It is a spirit. Since intimidation is a spirit it cannot be fought on a level of our intellect or will. Having a positive mental attitude will not overcome intimidation. Spiritual resistance requires spiritual assistance. It must be addressed in the realm of the Spirit. Often we live in a constant dread that our circumstances may change for the worse. We spend all of our time and energy trying to safeguard ourselves against something that may never happen. Its impossible to enjoy the present because were so afraid of the future. Its not physical battle, its a spiritual battle. Psalm 27:1 David says The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in this world. Walk in the gifts God has given you. Dont allow fear to cause your gifts to become dormant. Stir up the gift that is in you and walk in the authority of your father.
