2nd Annual Turkic Canadian Convention in Ottawa, Ontario The 2nd Annual Turkic Canadian Convention was held on November 2nd and 3rd at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, and was hosted by the Anatolian Heritage Foundation. The three panels of the convention, which took place on November 3rd, dealt with Canada’s economic diversification and trade with Eurasia, Canada’s strategic partnership and cooperation in Central Asia and the Caucasus, and lastly the Silk Road initiatives. The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Canada was in attendance, and the Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Ramil Huseynli delivered a speech in the Silk Road initiatives roundtable. Several other speakers participated in the panels, including the Honourable William C. Graham, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of National Defence, Dr. Robert Cutler and Professor Dr. Jeff Sahadeo from the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University, MP Paul Dewar, and many others. Three special guests from Azerbaijan were in attendance; Professor Sarvar Gurbanov from Qafqaz University, Board of Directors Elnur Asgarli of the Silk Road Business Association of Azerbaijan and Head of the Silk Road Business Association of Azerbaijan Rashid Chulagov. Professor Gurbanov and Mr. Asgarli were both panellists, as well. Special thanks to the Anatolian Heritage Foundation for the pictures.
