2nd Chronicles Chapter 1 We always hear how great Solomon was. Verse one in this chapter gives us the reason for his greatness: Verse 1 – Now Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him and exalted him exceedingly. He did not exalt himself. He was not exalted by his father. God chose him to be king for His purpose and glory. Wait for God to promote you. Don’t even desire to be exalted unless the Lord your God wants you to be. Until He is ready, you are not. Solomon offered sacrifices to the Lord and the Lord appeared to him and asked him what He should give him. Solomon asked for wisdom but look what he said before that. Verse 8 – You have shown me and my father mercy. You made me king. Verse 9 – Let Your promise to my father be established – You made me king. Solomon had the right perspective for a king who would glorify the One who put him on the throne. It is the King of kings that promotes leaders all over the world for His purpose and glory. God has a reason for Obama to be the president of this nation. God has a reason for Putin to be in power in Russia. His plan is unfolding. Recognize that God causes leaders and nations to rise and fall. Pray for those leaders God has exalted at this point in history. Watch as God’s plan unfolds as we near the coming of the Christ! That is when justice will take place. Just as David would not do anything to insult King Saul, so should we not do anything to insult the leader God has chosen for us at this time. We need to learn to come under God’s authority by living for Him under the authority of those who He has raised up for a greater purpose than we can ever imagine. Verse 12 – God says: “that you may judge My people over whom I have made you King….” Whether the king or president acknowledges that God brought him or her to that position is not relevant. God did it. All authority comes from God.
