2nd International Art Biennale of İzmir Art, not only uses imagination while creating aesthetic objects or environments, but also carries enthusiasm that awakens the joy of living in people’s hearts. Art inspires people to express their feelings and thoughts regardless of race, culture and religion. The unique energy of art contributes to world peace greatly. Therefore, societies should always participate in all kinds of art organizations and events with dedication and perseverance in order to keep the connective and inspiring spirit of art alive. The number of art events and organizations that take place in a society is considered one of the best indicators to gain insight to its level of cultural development and its commitment to endorse the rights to freedom of expression and speech. A major international art event also carries the potential to provide the host city or country with global recognition while contributing to economic development. In fact, this has been our principal motive when we embarked on the road of organizing the first international Biennial of Izmir. With the participation of around 438 artists from 53 countries, we now hope to prove the capacity and potential of Izmir to host a worldwide event while providing our share of support in promoting Izmir’s unique cultural, historical and natural richness to the world. Seba Art Gallery piece together 438 artist from 53 countries with the perfection of expressing their identities by art at 2nd International İzmir Art Biennale. Artists are the best and the most beautiful samples of expressing the ideas without cutting and destructing others. It is a conquest of art, that black and white stay together. This is the language of success of being human. Those were the peoples, understanding and who wants to understand art and artists, are known that life is short and has to be pass perfect. Artists are the symbols of respect to each other’s existence and they are also the symbols of conjunction with love. Art language is agent and restorative, it teaches to see, to hear and to try to understand. Art language expressions have no destruction, anger and victim, this language binds up wounds. Artists are important persons those who are the saver of free thought. Seba Art Gallery together with the jury and scientific committee have worked devotedly and succeed to bring these free language representative and precious artist together from different cultures, countries and cities. 2nd International İzmir Art Biennale was realized between April 30th and May 5th, 2013 at 2-3-4 Halls of International Izmir Fair Area, with your supports and 450 artists from 53 countries. Besides International Izmir Fair Area, personal and mixed exhibitions were met with art-lovers at İzmir State Art And Sculpture Museum of Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture, Ege University Atatürk Culture Center, Kültürpark Art Center of İzmir State Art And Sculpture Museum of Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture, Seba Art Gallery, and Kedi Culture and Art Center. All participant countries started İzmir Presentations at their countries. We were honored from your support according to your conditions and being with us during this uphill struggle of İzmir for art. Biennale Award Ceremony was done on May 5th , 2013 at 03:00 pm at 3rd Hall of İzmir International Fair Area. Selection committee was constituted from Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmet İmançer, Prof. Aneh Mohammad Tatari, Prof. Arthur P. Bourgeois, Prof. Dennis P. Mccann, Fahri Sever, Prof. Hani Mahmoud Faisal, Prof. Dr. Hatice Bengisu, Hatice Kumbaracı Gürsöz, Prof. İbrahim Bozkuş, Prof. Dr. İnci Kuyulu Ersoy, Assos. Prof. Javier Chavira, Prof. Krassimir Dobrev, Lecturer Mete Sezgin, Prof. Nuray Yılmaz, Seba Uğurtan, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sevim Arslan, Assist. Prof. Dr. Turan Enginoğlu, Prof.Dr. Ulufer Teker, and Ümit Gezgin. This jury was selected the awarded artists.
