2nd day of Kolkata test- India reduced to 83/5, chasing a modest WI 234, Sachin himself done in by umpire Nigel Llong and his farewell party all but ruined for the desolate fans at Eden Gardens! Cut to end of 3rd day - India wins the test by an innings and 51 runs! What a turn around! West Indies pusillanimity apart, the three men who contributed to this result were Rohit Sharma, Mohd Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin and of these, the first two were debutants in test cricket! Incredible! Rohit had to endure a long wait to win his test cap, but produced one of the finest innings by an Indian debutant in adversity and might well have gone on to make a double hundred but for umpire Richard Kettleborough! Ashwin did his customary rescue act, making 124 and bagging 5 wickets - time he is regarded as an all rounder on merit! The most spectacular(literally!) showing came from Mohd Shami who destroyed the WI batting with a match haul of 9 wickets out of which, incredibly, 6 batsmen were clean bowled! He is fast, whippy and has a mean reverse swing with an old ball! A fine prospect for India!
