2nd day of things Im grateful for: 1. My childhood. I had an awesome childhood. My parents loved me and I knew it. I was part of a relatively large family, I understood my place in it and what was expected of me. I got my chores done and it was off to play. I ate dirt (out of curiosity), rode my bike everywhere (without a helmet), played tag in the dark, ate watermelon and had contests spitting the seeds, jumped off of things way too high, blew stuff up, threw rocks at cars and ran like hell, camped out and never slept, played chicken with sharp knives, built tree forts, got in fights, rarely wore shoes; I had a blast. Then I turned 7. LOL!!! It still hasnt ended :-) 2. My parents. My mother was so sweet to me as a child. (Not that she isnt now.) I was her first born and she treated me like a prince. I still remember the way she liked to comb the wave into the front of my hair and fawn over me. She has taught me so much about empathy, compassion and caring for others. I love you to the very center of my heart Momma. My father was a proud, conscientious, hard-working, loving man that taught me that no one is better than anybody else, we all have a contribution to make and should be proud of it, to do everything to the best of my ability, thats its ok to cry but you better be ready to fight for it, to respect women, to enjoy life, to love openly, to be strong and gentle, to shake hands firmly and hug real tight. I love you Dad and miss you every day. 3. My siblings, Jonna, Kent, Brad and Lisa. It has been such an honor to be your big brother. I have taken that role very seriously since day 1. I changed all your diapers. I wiped all yours noses. I have always had your back, even when you didnt know I was there. It has not always been easy but Id do it again in a heartbeat. We have shared so much together. So much laughter, pain, joy, heartbreak; you name it, weve shared it. I love you all so much. Thank you for sharing your lives with me. I hesitate nominating people for stuff like this but this one is different. Whether you get nominated for a Facebook challenge or not, try starting your day thinking about 3 things youre grateful for. The world gets brighter. Itll change your life. And again, like yesterday, as long as I have your attention I nominate you, Jonna and Kent :-)
