2nd meeting of LBDDA held Beautification of Kupwara, Handwara and Langate towns in offing Mir for time bound completion of on-going tourism projects SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 04: The Government has decided to beautify the towns of Kupwara, Handwara and Langate on tourism lines to attract tourists towards virgin destinations of Lolab, Bangus and Drangyari besides organizing fame tours and other related activities to showcase the lush green tourism potential of these spots in and outside the Country. The decision in this regard was taken today at 2nd meeting of Lolab-Bangus-Drangyari Development Authority meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Tourism, Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir here today. Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah, Legislators, Mr. Abdul Haq, Er. Abdul Rashid, who are also the local representatives, were present in the meeting. The Meeting directed the concerned authorities for formulation of detailed project reports for funding so that beautification works of these towns would be taken up at the earliest. The meeting also underscored the need for carrying out vigorous promotional campaign to showcase the virgin tourism potential of these spots. The meeting also approved current year’s action plan of Rs. 1.50 crore and reviewed physical and financial status of on-going projects. The Chief Executive officers presented a detailed power point presentation depicting development and creation of varied tourist related infrastructure facilities in the area. Speaking on the occasion, the Tourism Minister underscored the need for time bound completion of all on-going works. He stressed for judicious use of funds on the projects and instructed that the virginity of the spots should not be harmed at any cost while creating the infrastructure. Tourism Minister directed the concerned authorities to contact school and collage authorities for organizing more and more excursions at Bangus-Lolab-Drngyari. He also instructed for organizing local taxi operators rally at Bangus and other tourist spots in the district to popularize the tourism potential of these areas. He stressed upon the concerned to ensure completion of roads leading to Bangus valley so that tourists would not face any inconvenience while travelling to the destination. Mir asked concerned authorities for time-bound preparation of Master Plan of the area so that tourist related infrastructure would be created in a planned manner. He also asked concerned authorities to coordinate with each other to remove the impediments of forest clearances and land acquisition which hampers the creation of tourist related infrastructure at these spots. He directed concerned authorities for preparation of feasibility report for laying chair lift at Bangus valley. Ch. Mohammad Ramzan while highlighting the rich tourism potential of Bangus and other areas of the district underscored the need for creation of tourist infrastructure and stressed that a vigorous publicity campaign should be carry out in and outside the state for popularizing the tourism potential of the area. He urged for bringing all potential areas under LBDDA for their development. Mir Saifullah said that scenic spots of Kupwara constituency should be developed with focussed attention on creation of wayside amenities for visiting tourists. He urged that Master Plan of LBDDA should be prepared well in time for construction of tourist related infrastructure in the area in a strategic manner. He suggested that mega projects for creation of tourist infrastructure in the area should be prepared by the concerned authority for approval of Centre funding. Legislators, Mr. Abdul Haq and Er. Abdul Rashid also highlighted the demands of their areas and urged that due consideration should be given to develop tourist spots of their constituencies. They also urged for time-bound completion of all on-going tourism developmental projects in their areas besides demanding bringing of all potential areas of their constituencies under LBDDA for development. Commissioner Secretary, Tourism, Mr. AtulDuloo, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Dr. Ishaq, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. TalatParvez, Addl. District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Managing Director Cable Car Corporation, Mr. TufailMattoo, Managing Director JKTDC, Mr. Shamim Ahmad Wani, Chief Conservator Forests, Kashmir, Chief Town Planner, Chief Executive Officer, LBDDA besides senior officers from Planning and Development, Tourism and other departments attended the meeting.
