3/13 By Caitlin Keller — 8 hours ago The stool cultures came back for Amelia and it turns out she had VRE ( m.webmd/a-to-z-guides/tc/vancomycin-resistant-enterococci-vre-overview ) Therefore, she is in isolation. She is on an antibiotic. However, due to hospital policy she will remain in isolation until discharge. She still may have a milk allergy as well. Theyre slowly monitoring her feeds to see if she does have the allergy. They started her on 2 ccs of a special formula. So far, shes tolerated it. She is still on TPN and lipids (artificial nutrition). She had to have a PICC line put in again because she kept going through IVs. We are hoping that when her meds done she may be weaned off the TPN. She is down to 2 liters of air at room air with her sats being 97-100. So shes doing well with her respiratory stuff. Mason is doing well with feeds and with his respiratory stuff. He is growing well! However, this morning I was changing him and under the tape by his feeding tube I found little whitehead pimples. The nurse had the dr look at them and she felt it may be an infection so she had them cultured and started him on antibiotics. Therefore, hes in isolation as well. We will know for sure if he does/does not have an infection by Saturday morning. These two cant seem to catch a break 😕 I just want them to be better! Please keep praying!
