3/14--The Next 10 Principles The Fourth Commandment Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the Sabbath day, to sanctify it. Six days you shall work and accomplish all your work; the seventh day is Sabbath to the Lord , your God; you shall not do any work--you, your son, your daughter, your slave, your maidservant, your animal, and your convert within your gates--for in six day the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and He rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it. 367. You shall sound and hear the shofar on Yom Teruah --Numbers 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. 368. You shall offer the prescribed Elevation-Offering on Yom Kippur --Numbers 29:7-8 7 And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein:8 But ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the Lord for a sweet savour; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without blemish: 369. You shall offer the prescribed Elevation-Offerings on each day of Sukkot --Numbers 29:13 And ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish: 370. You shall offer the prescribed Elevation-Offering on the eighth day of Sukkot --Numbers 29:36 But ye shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord: one bullock, one ram, seven lambs of the first year without blemish: 371. You shall not demand payment debts remitted in the 7th year --Deuteronomy 15:2 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lords release. 372. You shall remit the debts of your brother in the 7th year --Deuteronomy 15:3 Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release; 373. You may demand payment of debts from a gentile--debts not remitted in the 7th year --Deuteronomy 15:3 374. You shall not refuse to lend to your destitute brother because the year of remission is near --Deuteronomy 15:9 Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee. 375. You shall not send your Hebrew bondservant away empty-handed --Deuteronomy 15:13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty: 376. You shall adorn your Hebrew bondservant generously from your flocks, from your threshing floor, and from your wine cellar --Deuteronomy 15:14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.
