3/2/1906- Platte Center Signal As a partial remedy for the overflow of Elm Creek every time an unusual rainfall occurs, is suggested the cutting out of the trees and brush which grow on either bank of the stream. This would unquestionably help the matter materially, especially in regard to the brush. But a much better remedy would be to straighten out some of the sharp turns of the creek in its course through town. With those trees gone the stream will be an unsightly affair. If there is any other way to fix it let the trees stand, especially the larger ones. Who is there in Platte Center that would not deplore the destruction of those large elms and willows that in summer cast their welcome shade on the south end of the bridge of sighs?
