3/5/14: People in power need the power of prayer. I Timothy - TopicsExpress

3/5/14: People in power need the power of prayer. I Timothy 2:1,2: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. Oh, and verse 3 says: This is good, and pleases God our Savior. There are additional thoughts that follow. The entire chapter deals with instructions for worship. These words were written by Paul. If you are like me then you might find these to be difficult words for the times that we live in. Peter writes similar words in 1 Peter 2:13ff. We have long been on a slippery slope, especially as a nation, when it comes to disobedience to the way God says we, as a nation, are to live and yet Paul and Peter urge us to pray for those in positions of authority. So we must pray for them and leave the rest to God. They lived during the time of Roman rule. Rome was a decadent nation. So is the USA. Trying times and trying words. Lord give me strength to be obedient to what your word says. May my words be as those of Joshua in Joshua 24:15. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Happy Wednesday!
