3.5 lakh first time voters to exercise franchise in J&K KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 14: About 3.5 lakh first time voters are going to exercise their right to franchise in Jammu and Kashmir in the Lok Sabha Elections. “3.5 lakh first time voters will be exercising their franchise in the Lok Sabha Polls in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula told Director General (DG), Election Commission of India (ECI), Akshay Raut during a Video Conference here today. The DG ECI was apprised about the activities being carried out under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and overall poll preparedness in the State. Giving the brief, CEO informed that these new voters were registered during the summary revision of the Electoral roll. “State and district SVEEP committees have been constituted and the SVEEP State Plan has also been rolled out from March 1,” Narula said and informed that as many as 253 campus Ambassadors have been appointed in different Colleges and Universities of the State. The DG (ECI) however, laid stress on creating mass awareness with special focus on women and young eligible voters. News Updated at : Saturday, March 15, 2014
