3 Feet From The Table At 2 pm a post was put up by a kill shelter showing a litter of young puppies that were to die at 5 pm if no one took them. Listed as 3 week old orphaned boxer mix puppies. Well, I emailed and waited. I called and asked if they could hold them until I got there and was told no, they have to be out by 5pm. I have not dealt with this shelter before and had to fill out paper work, get approved to pull, and then drive an hour and 45 min. to get there after being approved and arrive before 5pm. Completely discouraged knowing it wasnt going to happen in that time frame, my heart sank, and my stomach went into knots. I went on with my day after sending one more email with my cell and told them to call me if they could work with me. At 4:55pm a woman from the shelter called and asked if I was still coming to get them???? I told her I was never told I could! , now my heart is just shattered thinking that I could have maybe made it on time. She said well if you can make it by 6:50pm, Ill wait for you please God come and get them. So like a frantic crazy woman, I speed home, grab a crate, drop off the kids, and go screaming down the road. Now Im doing 95 down HWY 385, and get close to the city to run into rush hour traffic. My cell phone battery is about dead, I didnt think to grab my charger as I rushed out the door, I call quick and tell her Im close, Ill be right there. WRONG!! At 7:02pm I pull into the parking lot and its the wrong address........I call her back about in tears and told her where I was, she said she would wait for me still! So off I go racing to the correct place, slide in sideways to a parking spot out front, run to the doors and their locked. I beat on the doors, and a woman comes and tells me its the building at the end, so now Im running across the lawn, get to the doors and once again theyre locked. A woman inside yells Shes here!! and there comes a saint of a woman who let me in and took me down the hall. I wasnt supposed to be allowed in THE ROOM, but she said come in since nobodys here, and Ill help you carry them. As I walked into that tiny room, I knew right away what room it was, a small steel table in the center with a small desk in the corner and a few isolated dogs in small cages. There on the bottom was a bunch of sleeping tiny little pups. I couldnt get them out of that room quick enough!! They were just 3 feet from the table. We made it............
