3 GBOSAS For DJ Cee..... My friend DJ Cee Won is a year older today! Roll out the drums lets celebrate and say a prayer for this detribalized Nigerian in the Diaspora. Friends are some of the best gift one can have in life just as Birthdays are an important day to celebrate and reflect on our journey through life. Cee Won it is that time of the year to look back in your life and reflect on what you have done, and to look forward to what you still want to do. Cee today is a day to celebrate your life with family and friends and to rejoice over all the good and bad times you have come through together. Cee Baba this is wishing you a happy birthday with my heart filled with love. For your birthday, it’s high time I paid you back for all the things you’ve done for me over the years. I’ve been keeping tabs on what I owe you, and now I’ll be picking up the tab tonight. Happy Birthday to the best friend a person could dream of having! For the uninitiated a little background info may suffice. I never knew Cee Won from Adam. We met on Facebook and the attraction for me was the picture of Fela Anikulapo Kuti which he used as his profile picture and his advocacy for good governance, using social media as a platform. Sometimes in July 2014, I was scheduled to travel to the UK for an exam at the London Metropolitan University. Olufunmilayo Yusuf Odunaike had put up a Facebook status update and she was being harassed by a certain NebuTANian, who I wont bother mentioning his name. Cee Won didnt only rise up in defence of the oppressed Funmi but he left her with a charge saying - GO AND BE BOLD, NEVER YOU BE INTIMIDATED BY ANYONE! That for me was it! I made a decision to see who this rude boy is when I get to London. Swiftly I sent him an inbox that I was coming to London in 2 days time and demanded for his phone number so that I will call him when I get in. Cee Won gave me his number and asked for my itinerary, which I obliged him with. He replied and told me that he will be picking me up from Heathrow airport when I arrive at 9:30pm. I was taking a connecting flight in Paris. Guess what? I missed my flight from Paris to London which incidentally was the last flight for the day. The network was crazy and I couldnt reach Cee Won on phone to tell him I missed my flight and all that. So I sent him an SMS. (Which never got to him until 2am) Cee Won was at the airport until 1am when he was certain there was no missing plane from Paris to London and I wont be coming that night, before he left Heathrow airport for home. He got home some minutes after 2am and that was when he got my text message. I missed my flight. I will be on the first flight out of Paris arriving Heathrow at 8:45 am. DJ Cee Won was there waiting for me when I arrived the next day. I dont know about you, but having someone waiting for me at the airport whenever I arrive my destination is the ultimate satisfaction for me. That way I wont need the services of a cab or take the train to town. Especially on this occasion where I have an exam that is starting at 1 pm same day. Cee Won came to the airport to ferry me to London Metropolitan University, venue of my exam and also wait for me until I am done. We are talking about a 4 hours wait because thats the duration of the exam. Time is money, you know and DJ Cee gave me all that time and attention. This is a dude I barely know and who have been a virtual friend on Facebook, until a few hours ago. My encounter with Cee Won was mesmerising and I was flabbergasted and overwhelmed, to say the least about the hospitality he showered on me. Here is my dilemma. What can I do or say to let Cee Won know how much I appreciate having him as a friend? DJ Cee may your path be rough! Let’s make your birthday a day that you will always remember. We have some serious partying to do, so let’s get to it! The world changed forever the day you were born. As your best friend, I’m glad that day happened. May the wind always be at your back, my friend! We will party on your birthday, because a friend like you deserves the best party you could ever want. May all your wishes come true this year.
