3 Guns The enjoyable action comedy 2 Guns proved to be a box office success, albeit quite a modest one. Nonetheless, it put enough money in the bank for producer Randal Emmett to push for a sequel. Itll be an adaptation of Steven Grants comic book, 3 Guns, but the immediate stumbling block is the commitment of Baltasar Kormakur to making the 2016 release, Everest. After that, if Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are agreeable, then the film may happen. Alan Partridge 2 The success of Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa has paved the way for a second big screen adventure for Norwichs finest DJ. The news was confirmed by Henry Normal of production company Baby Cow (which he runs with Steve Coogan). The basic idea will be something akin to the documentary series Coast, albeit set in Norfolk. No timescales have thus far been announced. Alice In Wonderland 2 Tim Burton wont be back for the sequel to his $1bn-grossing adaptation of Alice In Wonderland, with the directors chair instead being occupied by The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted director James Bobin. Hes already in pre-production on the film, which is due for release on May 27th 2016. Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska and Helen Bonham-Carter lead the returnees. Alvin And The Chipmunks 4 Yep, this ones happening. Its due for release in December 2015 in the US - we have to wait, tragically, an extra month or two in the UK. Theres no confirmed director yet. American Pie 5 Theres not been much progress on American Pie 5, but its still believed to be active at Universal. The writers and directors of American Reunion, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, have been rehired to come up with the next instalment. And whilst theres not been much word since, American Pie 5 still appears to be a film Universal is after. Avatar sequels James Cameron is set to finally start shooting his Avatar sequels later this year. Hes making Avatar 2, Avatar 3 and Avatar 4, and theyre due for release in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang lead the returnees amongst the cast. Avengers: Age Of Ultron Production is underway on Joss Whedons sequel to the third biggest film of all time, The Avengers. Familiar faces in the cast include Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. Samuel L Jackson is set for a fleeting appearance, James Spader is to play Ultron, and Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have been added to the line-up. The film is due for release in May 2015. Bad Boys 3 Producer Jerry Bruckheimer still considers Bad Boys 3 to be an active project, although getting some time from director Michael Bay is proving to be a challenge. Bay is putting the finishing touches to Transformers 4 as we write this article, and then his intentions are unclear. Its also unclear as to whether Bruckheimer would push ahead without Bay on board. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have to be persuaded too. One of those may be slightly easier to convince than the other. That said, Bruckheimer seems keen to make this happen, and hes now freed from his own Disney deal. Time will tell... Bad Santa 2 Since weve been doing our annual round-up of sequels, Bad Santa 2 has been a regular feature. Its neither died a death, nor gone into production. The last update? Billy Bob Thornton, who remains keen to reprise the title role, said that script problems had held things up, but that it was going before the cameras later this year. One way or another, the sequel will happen, he told The Observer. If it doesnt, well check in with it again same time next year... Barbershop 3 Ice Cube is involved in a plan to revive the Barbershop series of movies. Barbershop 3 will see him reprise his role from the earlier movies, and the project is currently scouting for writers. Early stages, but it looks like itll happen. Batman Vs Superman Zack Snyders sequel to Man Of Steel almost inevitably wont be called Batman Vs Superman in the end, but thats the working title the world seems to be using. You probably know the score on this one already. Henry Cavill and Amy Adams lead the returnees from Man Of Steel, with Ben Affleck added as the new Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Rumours persist that other DC heroes will feature, in what may be the build up to the long-mooted Justice League film. Batman Vs Superman is due in May 2016. Beetlejuice 2 Tim Burton hasnt made a habit of doing sequels, but it looks as if hes finally been convinced to make a follow-up to his 80s delight, Beetlejuice. A sequel to it was mooted after the original was first released, yet the noises this time sound far more definite. Burton would direct again, and Michael Keaton has indicated hell be back in the lead role. The script is being penned by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith. No firm dates have been announced thus far. Beverly Hills Cop 4 A fourth Beverly Hills Cop film has been talked about for some time, but the idea was shelved a year or two back when Paramount instead explored a television series. Now, the film version is back on, as the television pilot wasnt picked up. Jerry Bruckheimer is set to produce, and we cant imagine Eddie Murphy is going to turn down one of the few viable leading man paydays he seems to have left. So far, hes indicated that he will be back. The new film will see Axel Foley head back to his Detroit roots. Its unclear at the moment if Brett Ratner - who was linked with directing - is still involved. Bill & Ted 3 This one feels agonisingly close to happening, but the starting pistol still hasnt been fired. Both Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have confirmed that Bill & Ted 3 is in.
