3 Years Running Lawrence County Schools Has Remained Top System In South Central Region Press release Dr. Bill Heath, Director of Schools of Lawrence County was recently named Superintendent of the Year for the South Central Region. This region consists of 16 surrounding counties and the selection process is carried out by the superintendents within those counties. The criteria taken into consideration when voting include leadership for learning, communication, professionalism, and community involvement. “I really appreciate the fact that other superintendents from across the state are taking notice of the great things we are doing in Lawrence County Schools. Being recognized for this award could not have happened without all the great people we have working in Lawrence County Schools. In my mind it is a tribute to them,” Dr. Heath shares. For the third consecutive year Lawrence County Schools has remained the top system in the South Central Region in academic gain and growth. In addition, we have received national recognition for our high schools and elementary schools as well as state honors.
