3 inch long Angostura knife form made from Spanish Diggings - TopicsExpress

3 inch long Angostura knife form made from Spanish Diggings quartzite, a surface find from Goshen County, Wyoming. I had the type checked when Perino was alive since I was swayed in the direction of Agate Basin, even with the oblique transverse flaking patterns. Perino called this point a Mountain - Foothill Paleoindian point based on George Frisons documentation of a mountain - foothill subsistence strategy that began about the end of Folsom times, right around 10,000 years ago. Frison et al proposed that the mountain - foothill subsistence strategy was separate and distinct from what was happening on the plains. Perino confused the subsistence strategy with point types. The people in this mountain - foothill adaptation used many of the same point types we are used to on the plains. Plus, this point was found on the plains. Perino COA. John Branney Collection.
