3 posts in 3 days for this girl!! But this one is extra special to me. Yes, of course Im thrilled to pieces that my KC Royals are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1985! But...they accomplished this on a date thats special to me and my family. My precious parents are celebrating their 65th anniversary today!! Im so honored and blessed that I still have them in my life and that our family still witnesses the love and commitment they have for each other, after 65 years of marriage. Daddy was an Iowa farmboy and had returned from WWII and was working on his Masters. He was singing bass in a barbershop quartet. Momma was a St. Louis city girl and was working. Her best friend was the conductor of the barbershop quartet and invited my mom to get on a bus and come visit her in Iowa. And while she was there...she just HAD to hear her quartet perform. MaryAnne had her eye on Carroll...the tenor and thought Momma should check out Floyd, the bass, because he was a real wolf! Ha! After the concert Floyd Gabel hit Estelle Krummel with a snowball and the rest is history! Incidentally, MaryAnne and Carroll also married and celebrated their 65th anniversary this past summer. Happy Anniversary to this beautiful couple. Thank you for consistently showing us such a good example of love, compassion, sacrifice and devotion. Oh...and thank you for not stopping after 5 kids. 6 kids, actually, because you gave me ONE sibling I could boss around!! I love you!!
