3 things I said I would have done at the start of the season if I was GM. I am not Monday morning Quarterbacking. I always thought that you come out of Spring training with your best team in tact. The Pirates did not. I know that Morneau was not a definite that he would sign but I would have done everything to sign him. A: We needed a first baseman. Sign Morneau ...Whatever it takes. B. We needed a Right Fielder. Polanco had a great Spring and was ready. Screw 2022 or whatever year we lose. Let him play the whole year in right Field and then you now have a stronger bench with Tabata, Snider and G. Sanchez. C. Make Cumpton one of your starters. He is ready and has proven he can pitch. Now you would not have had to sign Volquez and save the 5 million and put it into Morneau or other areas. Can anyone really believe that this team would be this bad if we had those 3 positions changed? That is what a GM should have done. But with this management and ownership, they did nothing and now it will cost the Pirates a decent season.
