30/06/2013 : Joint Review Mission lauds Tripura for Mid-Day Meal implementation The central Joint Review Mission has lauded implementation of the Mid-DayMeal scheme in Tripura after a visit of ten days. Smt. Sita Raghuvangshi, who led the team during its visit in the state, said at the conclusion of inspection that the state government has worked very well in implementing Mid-Day Meal scheme. She also said that there are scopes of going even better in the line. An 11 member delegation of the central government which had officials of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) among others, came to thbe state on May 17 to inspect the implementation of Mid-Day Meal scheme in different schools of Tripura. They held detailed discussion with students, guardians, teachers and Headmasters of 48 schools including schools in Moihanpur, Jiraniain West Tripura district, Amarpur and Killa of Gomati district etc. The team visited schools in the autonomous district council areas as well.The delegation held a meeting with the state government on Wednesday after completion of the field visits. The delegation highly laudedthe state government for its implementation model of MI-Day Meal scheme and saidthat stress should be laid onachieving further success in the line. They stressed on maintaining sanitation and health awareness in the schools, maintaining nutritional and palatable qualities in the dishes served under the scheme in schools. Over 6 lakh students are currently benefitted by the Mid-Day Meal scheme acrossTripura. Mid-Day Meal scheme is operational from Class I till Class VIII in different schools of the state. The meal includes vegetables, ‘khichdi’ and eggs – a wholesome combination of diet which is non-existent in most states of the country. Few schools of the state are also providing meat according to availability of funds. The central delegation praised Tripura for achieving 100 percent crystal implementation of the Mid-Day Meal scheme but suggested for raising the quality standards of implementation.
