30 Day Film Challenge: Day #16 (Film That I Enjoyed But Now Have Second Thoughts About): Inception I liken Christopher Nolans decade long passion project to a doomed relationship. At my first viewing, the sets, the costumes, the A-list actors, and the sheer scale of the film just spell-bounded me and in IMAX no less. It is without a doubt Nolans most emotionally accessible film to date. However each attempt at revisiting it has ended in an incomplete failure as I found myself not being able to get through the film. Once I got past appreciating the ambition and the passion of Nolan bleeding through and the epic scope of the film, the cracks begins to present itself. The incessant need of adding intricacies upon intricacies which is known to be a constant in Nolans repertoire begins to become all the more apparent. It also does not help that the film I feel works best being seen in the cinema in all its glory. The impact is lost somewhat being seen in the own luxury of ones home. With everything said, there is still much admiration for the film on this end. What Inception possesses is vision, scope, and originality. Its proof that an original property with the right minds behind it and with solid backing can still be a success. It is a combination that seems to be lacking in what comes down the woodwork in a film climate such as ours these days.
