30 Day Movie Challenge - Day 9: Movie With My Favorite Actor The Abominable Doctor Phibes (1971) - Vincent Price Its rather hard for me to choose a favorite actor, Ive got a good handful Ive always loved. Classic actors, actors I grew up with watching rise to stardom and newer ones just breaking out. Among many candidates, I chose Vincent Price for today because Ive always loved his ghoulishness and elite level of camp that actually makes for an art form. Its also September, so the scary movie season is officially upon us. In Doctor Phibes comes a unique role for a Price. A man known for such a distinct and powerful chilling voice, Anton Phibes doesnt speak at all when hes on screen. You do get to hear his voice via recordings. Its kind of ironic that it turns out to be one of his best performances and most menacing and dreadful. The film also seems to be a film that inspired the likes of movies such as SEVEN and SAW many many moons later. Its also the perfect blend of a dour 70s film with some of the remnants of the psychedelic 60s intact.
