30 Day Prayer Challenge Day 23 – October 21, 2014 “This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” Jeremiah 33:2-3 God is not visible to me. There is no getting around the fact that this “dilemma” requires me to search for Him. He is in a different dimension—the spirit dimension. Looking around the physical world is not the place to seek first the kingdom of God. If I’m serious about wanting to find Him, my first place to go digging around is in His Word. Once I started seeking Him there, I begin to see more clearly what He was up to in the physical world around me. In fact, He seems to enjoy showing me what He is up to. Though we were each a little guarded, we deliberately celebrated this new pregnancy without fear. It was fun to have older children to share the experience with. We were talking about baby-names at dinner one night. The name, Luke, was at the top of the boy list and Isabella was at the top of the girl list. Ok, it was at the top of my girl list. I had to work pretty hard to open everybody else up to that name. In my book the world would be a perfect place if I had a little “Bella.” The pregnancy progressed, and before long we were facing the 20 week sonogram. This was the very sonogram we discovered Heather had died, two years earlier. This baby was very active and I felt great. I was seeking God daily and had peace. Scott wasn’t doing as well with this sonogram visit, however. I jabbered all the way to the sonogram. It didn’t cross my mind that he was having a hard time until we were actually in the sonogram room. I looked over at him. He was slumped down in his chair, nearly horizontal, looking like he lost about 4 hours of sleep the night before. Clearly, he wrestled his shirt out of a basket of unfolded laundry. From under the bill of his red ball-cap, I could see the same look on his face that he had in Heather’s sonogram. “Goodness Scott, Are you ok?” He just looked at me. “This is stressing you out. You are worried because of the last time we were here. It’s ok. I know this baby is ok. It is kicking all the time. Heather hardly moved at all. This baby is healthy and strong.” He still said nothing. The tech went to work, one hand tapping on the keys and the other moving the sonogram paddle. There on the computer screen, we could now see what had been safely hidden for the past 20 weeks. “Everything looks great. It’s a girl, no doubt. She’s moving so much that I can’t capture one of my pictures. You have a strong little one. Let me try one more time.” She tapped away at the keys again and we heard another big kick over the Doppler, the fifth one of that strength. “She’s not going to let me take it. Let me make sure this is enough for the doctor.” She took the pictures out of the room. A huge sigh came from under the bill of the red hat. He was sitting up, looking a little more like himself. We were both relieved to see the baby’s vibrancy on the screen. We sat without saying anything. The only sounds we heard were the snapping hum of the florescent lights above us and the whirr of the sonogram machine that was next to my head. Then I heard something else. “Esther.” It was clear. I knew I heard it. I just didn’t know what to think of what I heard. Then I heard it again. “Esther.” I didn’t question whether I really “heard” it or Who said it. I just thought about it for a few minutes and then looked over at Scott and just said, “Esther.” He smiled, then said. “Esther. I like that.” Until I heard, “Esther,” I was so set on Isabella. Esther was a Jewish girl known for her bravery. If God spoke the name to us, He had a plan for her life. Her spoken name came with promise that He would take care of her. In a few short weeks, we would witness His promise begin to unfold. Scripture of the Day: Isaiah 48:6| “You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? “From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.” Song of the Day: “Hello My Name Is,” by Matthew West youtube/watch?v=bnpqirD_sro Scripture Memory Verse: Call To Me youtube/watch?v=spZAjPlPxKI
