30 days of Thanksgiving, Day 8: For divine appointments. this morning, before going to Pathmark, I stopped @ Burger King for coffee. Ran into one of the kids from the after school Bible Club I help w/at a nearby elementary school. He was having breakfast w/his mom. He and I recognized each other, mom looked vaguely familiar. We didnt connect @ first until Id come back from placing my order. We HAD met before! She was a one-time teachers aide whod worked w/Karl when he was in middle school & needed one. I suddenly realized that the last time Id run into her, shed been pregnant w/that very child, now a second-grader. The reason we hadnt connected before was that his teenaged brother & sister were usually the ones who called for him after club. We had a fine time reminiscing & she was very vocal in her love and admiration for Karl. How good does that make a mom feel? I, of course, texted Karl about this encounter. He hadnt remembered her, tho Im sure he would immediately were he to meet her face to face. You can be sure Im gonna make it happen! The second time this week Ive reconnected w/an old friend, tho FB wasnt involved this time.
