30 years ago the average CEO made about 46X the pay of their average non-managerial worker. And they lived well. Coincidentally we had a really healthy middle-class to boot. Now....the average CEO makes 331X the pay of their average worker while that same average wage has actually lost ground to inflation and higher living costs. How does anyone look at a disparity like that and think Thats how it should be. Thats the promise of opportunity inherent in the American dream.? Were cannibalizing the very thing that made this country a powerhouse over the last 60 years: our middle class. And for what? Were not seeing cheaper utilities, were working more hours, taking less vacation, and bringing home less pay. Again, for what? Run through these numbers, come back here, and tell me everythings just fine with the American Dream. aflcio.org/Corporate-Watch/Paywatch-2014 Utter aside: Whoever designed this site is a damned genius. The professional envy, it burns.
