30 years ago this week I opened the doors to my first dojo. I was just a kid, still in high school, but I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I would never have had the opportunity to do something I love so much for 30 years without the help of so many people along the way. I would like to thank my parents for believing I could be successful at a time when very few females trained in martial arts and very few kids were involved. I would like to thank every teacher I have had throughout the years for their willingness to share their knowledge. I would like to thank my kids who have spent most of their lives at the dojo and helping at countless TNT events. I would like to thank every parent who has driven their child back and forth to classes and selflessly dedicated hours and hours of their time so that their child could train with us. I would like to thank each and every student who has had the courage to walk through the door and step onto the mats for the first time and those who have continued to train and support the dojo over the years, especially those that had patience with me in the beginning as I was learning what it meant to be a teacher. Finally, I thank Andy for sharing the 30 year journey, first as a student and now as a partner. He probably never realized that he was signing up to build parade floats, renovate an old church into a dojo, or any of the other countless jobs he has done over the years. I sincerely thank everyone who has played a part in the success of the dojo. Its been 30 years of great memories and I hope to be blessed with many more to come!
