30 years later and poverty is at an all time high. Still, this song and the surrounding production was a high watermark for raising awareness in society in1984. And yes, many people were fed because of the money and awareness that this raised. And this of course, led to LIVE AID the following year and even more starving masses were fed. But still theres so much more to be done. Like forgiving Third World debt so that others wont starve. Because their countries have to pay off other countries for loans for other factors such as war. And all the refugees resulting from The wars in the Middle East. All their children are starving. Poverty in America is at an all-time high. Our own country, the richest most abundant in the entire world has a higher property rate then so many other places in the world. Its unfathomable. Maybe we could think of them while we are eating our big family dinners tonight and tomorrow. Maybe we wont take such a large portion for our plate only to dump it in the garbage at the end of the night. Its not easy but thats what Christmas is about is it not? Celebrating the birth of Christ who said to feed the hungry and take care of the sick?
