300: Rise of an Empire delivers exactly what it promises; a high-octane splatter-fest that under-compensates for a relative lack of a plot, but still amounts to what is a decent action movie. The movie is most definitely entertaining, and if you were a fan of the original 300, you will certainly like the slow-mo, sword-and-sandal grit to this film. The plot is rather underdeveloped, and the pacing of the movie is un-even, but the thrills do just enough to elevate the movie above the action-movie doldrums. There is a TON of gore in this movie, and the characters arent as developed as they should be, but the over-the-top approach this movie takes leave you hungry for a sequel ----------------------------------- B-
