3000 miles driven Scotland-Santander-Asturias-Galicia-Bacelona-Genova-Florence-Ligure-Mont Blanc-Dijon-Calais-Kent! Hard to beat a Citroen hdi engine, not one drop of oil or water lost in a 12 year old self converted campervan from panel van. Idled over 1.5 hours in 40• heat and never overheated once. A wonderful time had, we are very lucky to have experienced so many amazing cultures in our month long trip, a Chieftains gig in Galicia then my own trio The Tim Edey Collective played Saturday in italia at Campo Ligure with Benjamin Trott and Isobel Crowe and Ava also made her stage debut playing whistle and saying ah into my mic. My only complaints.. Experiencing some very very sad people with campervan poshness syndrome, sniffing noses up at sites in Italy and saying youll have to be away by 10am, at the sight of a converted old van along side their 30k one, even though our bed is actually way better than the Vw rock n roll mattess lol and way more economical than most campers with same equipment just looks bit tatty but what counts is the engine, and missing Christy Leahy gig day after ours in italia, hes an amazing box player. Now at Grandpas Richard and I perform at the brilliant local festival Broadstairs folk week starting Friday until Wednesday and then fly out to play solo at Summerfolk Canada and se gigs for Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy. Never let anyone say you cannot do something folks, I am terrified of long tunnels and I drove the Mont Blanc and loved it! Even though I doubted I could actually do it, feel the fear and do it anyway as Dr Claire Weeks said in her life affirming book. Hope to c some of you along the road
