31 DAY PERFORMANCE CHALLENGE: DAY #14 :MUSICAL PERFORMANCE : Judy Garland (A STAR IS BORN 1954) I hate to go for the obvious but what else can you say other than throwing absolute praise for Judy Garland in what many consider to be her best performance as well as one of the great leading performances in film. Its chilling to watch Garland as you find yourself asking to what extent this tale spoke to her own life as the parallel between art and reality in this instance often gets blurred. Nonetheless Garland hits every notes that is required of her with pitch-perfection both musically and emotionally. And while many remember this film and performance (including myself b/c THE COUNTRY GIRL SERIOUSLY?) as the Oscar That Got Away, in the end, the loss on Oscar Night only adds to the iconicity and greatness that is Judy Garland.
