31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN (Day 9, on time!!!): LAFFING SALLY: Todays entry is not so much a recommendation as a creepy memory. Those of you that grew up in central Arkansas may remember that there was an amusement park in War Memorial Park, close to the zoo. It had the most amazing carousel, some other rides, and a spook house. The haunted attraction was a typical ghost train, carrying you and another rider into a darkened area filled with ghastly figures, blasts of compressed air, and loud noises. It was pretty creepy. It was nothing compared to what stood in front of it. In front of the ride sat a mechanical fat lady dubbed Laffing Sally. She would rock back and forth, laughing in a way that sounded both jolly and a little crazy. I was absolutely terrified of her. I used to have nightmares about her coming out of her cage and chasing me. Imagine my surprise when, dining at Loca Luna in Little Rock one evening, I saw that they had moved her to their lobby, where, to my knowledge, she is still currently on display.
