31 Nights XIX: Scanners 2: The New Order! Power doesnt make you good, Dave. It just makes you powerful. And it makes me hungry. If the original Scanners avoided going the well-trod path, then Scanners 2: The New Order goes full-on X-Men with a protagonist who wants to protect a world that will fear him. Were presented with an Evil Scanner who loves power and hungers for more, and a hero who randomly runs into violent situations where he can safely use his power on Bad People. Scanners 2 is entertaining even if it bleeds the subtlety from the original. It was to the point that when the credits began and an orchestal sweel segued into a Hair Metal ballad, I laughed at the unintentional irony.
