31 Nights XXX: Stagefright (1987)! Hes enjoying himself! Do you realize hes enjoying himself! Before The Church and Cemetery Man, Michele Soavi brought us the slasher Stagefright. A group of actors is rehearsing their new show, but a madman is waiting in the wings... The movies largely pretty funny. After watching several practices, you still really dont know what the hell the shows about. Then you add in an actor who was a mass murderer then escapes an asylum. The killer gets locked into the theatre along with the troupe and you may cheer once the slaughter begins. Stagefright is a paint-by-numbers slasher flick, but the director makes it colorful and stylish enough to make up for its weaknesses. And that owl mask IS kinda creepy!
