31st October 2014 There was a feeling of change in the air. I reached the location of the ACAUT rally one hour early out of sheer excitement as I simply couldnt wait for this momentous occassion to kick off. I was no way going to miss out witnessing the first steps towards CHANGE. I was quite surprised when I got there and already saw a good number of Kohima Science College students and some St. Joseph students. I could see the enthusiasm in their eyes and I felt quite patriotic there. I felt glad and extremely happy to know that I wasnt the only one who had had enough of the injustice and wanted to make a difference. I climbed up the over-bridge and found the perfect place to watch everything and everyone.. As I bend over the railings and kept anticipating and thinking about the huge pile of mess in our Naga society(philosopher laga pose tey thakishe dey), I realised that people were beginning to turn up.. 100 then 200 and it quickly totalled to over 10,000 and more.. Students from various colleges and institutions came to be apart of the rally and to show their solidarity but Oriental College stood out the most. They made a grand entrance which suited the occassion, shouting the ACAUTs slogan One Government. One tax. (I swear i got a teary eye). There were so many good orators who enthralled the huge crowd with their motivating and challenging speeches but a couple of them owned that podium and won our hearts. One among them was the ENPO representive who was a dynamic orator. I felt sincerely sorry when he shared the problems faced by our Eastern Nagas. His trademark line was they are always at the recieving end. And i agree with him. We should definitely give more attention to their people. They deserve this justice. Corruption was his main agenda. There were other prominent speakers who really motivated, enlightened and educated the crowd on corruption, injustice and oppression of our Naga people. One thing struck my mind as a student. It was our own very sir Khekiye sema who made the students realise that it is wrong to lie about their parents designation inorder to apply for scholarship which isnt rightfully theirs. (Toikhan sob laga baba amma khan farmer ase niki). We should certainly be ashamed of ourself rather than complain about how less we get(sorom khabi dey sathi khan. Itu baar toh advance scho baki nakhabi. If i see you shopping jaka tey para hi hansai dibo). The ACUAT rally was a grand success regardless of our so many intellectual brothers and sisters who decided to sit home with their intellectual books and intellectual thoughts.. Anyways they(ACAUT) certainly won my heart with their conviction and their sincerity. Now I can proudly say Im ACAUT not just at home but in the streets too. One Government One Tax! True story~ :)
