32 YEARS AGO TODAY- SUPERMAN THE MOVIE- Sunday, November 14, 1982, 8-11:45 pm. ABC airs for the second time the extended version of the film running it all in one night. VIDEO: ABC bumper and opening teaser. SUPER FACT- The Salkinds company prepared a 188 min cut of the film for worldwide television airings. ABC edited out approximately 6 minutes from this cut to run in their allotted time slot. Most notably cut from the ABC airings is the Superman and Jor-El conversation in the Fortress of Solitude after the first night rescues. The previous ABC airing (Sunday and Monday, February 7 and 8, 1982, 9-11pm) played the film in a two hour time slot over a two night showing, ending the first part on a cliffhanger as Lois Lane falls from the helicopter.
