336 days gone, 29 days left Tue. Dec. 2nd, AD 2014 #WordFromCurtis is THE VOICE OF THE LORD - 1 SCRIPTURE: Ps. 29v4 - The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. INTRO: The first time I said in a testimony that I heard the Lord speak to me saying... someone asked me later, how do you know its the Lords voice? Its difficult for people, even some believers, to really confess they heard the Lords voice because of some misconceptions about the Lords voice. Lets study... ELUCIDATION: We read in Genesis of the callings of some patriarchs: Noah (Gen 6:13) & Abraham (Gen 12:1). And all through the scriptures we encounter interactive messages between the Lord & his saints. He spoke to them. And yesterday He spoke to me to share this with you. Misconceptions about the Lords voice: Many people think that the Lords voice is / would be some CRUDE, STRANGE, THUNDERING & SCARY voice to portray that Hes God & to distinguish His voice from all others. Cute idea, but thats not it. Firstly, God doesnt need to coerce anyone into submission: He wants our love & obedience. And secondly, (well maybe before judgment day) He doesnt scream or yell at people even in wrath. Hes too powerful for that. The misconceptions about the Lords voice arise from the ideas we get from MOVIES, where the voices of supernatural beings are often made to sound STRANGE & FEARFUL. Well, thats a smart hyperbole (exaggeration) and it sells their movies. How then does God speak? God speaks through that STILL SMALL VOICE we often refer to as SOMETHING. This one is different from conscience. It took me time to realise this. And tomorrow if Jesus tarried were going to study it and more. In the meantime, God still speaks. The same way He spoke to Noah & Abraham, He still speaks. Be attentive, He could be directing your steps. May you hear His voice differently today in the name of Jesus.
