36 Days to Graduation. Day 4: Kelz StillStanding McDonald. December 21, 1997, was by far the worse day of our lives. It was the day that we laid Cheryl to rest. Ryan was only 9 months old. You were 2 years old and not really able to take on the magnitude of the loss we had suffered. The family had gathered at the house, the processional was in place. Grams, Grandma Minnie, Reen, Falisha McDonald and I got into the family car...speechless. Its funny; I cant remember where Ryan was. But I remember vividly that you were seated on grandmamas lap. As we began to proceed to the church, lumps in our throats, tears in eyes and hearts devastated at what we were about to do...our two year old song bird began to sing. Jesus, Jesus...somebody calling on Jesus all the time. We sat looking at you, wondering Where did that come from? Of course you could sing, you come from a family of singers. You were a choir stand baby. But At that moment, we were reassured through you that Our Comforter was coming. Celli, there is power in your praise. Difficult days will surely come but Our God is a present help in a time of trouble. Sometimes the right words may not come but open your mouth and begin praising. I can remember in college going through a very difficult time and when I came home that weekend Mama told me, Baby, mama has been praying for you. How comforting. Daddy tells me constantly, I pray for all of yall every night. When I pray, our pray for my children and you are one of my children. So, never forget to pray. Dont forget that there is power in your praise. Also, share your praise with others because you never know who else will be blessed at the right time. No matter where you are, know that you are being covered by people who love you.
