365 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA Day 218, June 15, 2013 If PRAYER can change me, PRAYER can change AMERICA!! KEEP ON GROWING! The name of the game is CHANGE! That’s what growth is, moving from one level of spiritual comprehension to the next. Leaving old paths for new. Discovering what was once hidden. Seeing for the first time new answers to old questions. It is all a part of growth. The righteousness of GOD is revealed as we grow in faith. Romans 1:17 says, “For therein (in the Gospel) is the righteousness of GOD revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith.” A preacher was asked the question, “What produces spiritual growth?” He replied, “Conflict!” And really, he was right. James, a servant of GOD and of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, writes, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience, but let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:2-4.) It is not until we are caught in a rub that we realize how tender our feelings are. It is not until we are crossed that we discover how self-centered and willful we tend to be. It takes people at our elbows to help us see ourselves for what we really are. The coach would not think of trying to “finish” a team without subjecting that team to a scrimmage. When the team is on the field and in the tensions of competition, weaknesses are exposed and strengths are revealed. The same is true in church. People from all walks of life, from every conceivable economic and social stratum and from every personality type imaginable, are put together in one place to become the people of GOD. At first, they don’t all fit, but after a while the rough edges are cut away, and a beautiful new Christian emerges. Growth comes through conflict. PRAYER: FATHER GOD, please give us love one for another, and grace to get along with the “know-it-alls.” Give us peace and kindness that rubs off on people’s needs. Help us find others who need a FATHER and a FRIEND like YOU!! In JESUS’ Name! Amen!!
